Last block I used choices often. The problem that I kept having was to walk away after giving the student the consequence. I made a goal for myself that this block I would learn to walk away. I have kept to this goal and several times I have been able to give the choice and walk away. IT REALLY WORKS!!! Students end up making the right choice.

I very rarely argue with my students. If they become heated, I know my reaction can possibly make the situation worse. I try to tell myself to remain calm and explain the situation and how it works. I have noticed when I do this, the issue is usually squashed and we move forward.

This is a perfect illustration of the L&L mantra, "I care about you too much to argue with you". Thanks for sharing, Michelle! :)
